A psychological journey into Italian craftsmanship

Daniela Bensason was born and raised in Tel Aviv (Israel), where during her studies in psychology she experienced and absorbed the vibrant atmosphere and multicultural essence of the city.

Her background continuously influences the way in which she approaches all aspects of life, and pushes her to connect with the roots of every matter faced.
Since her very early ages, Daniela’s family educated her to cultivate the importance of traveling and to discover and appreciate the multidimensional and layered richness of every culture. She grew up with a tireless curiosity, listening to all the stories about her relatives and their multiple displacements between Italy, Russia, Turkey and Israel, and elaborating memories still present in her mind.
Along with her studies and a growing interest for psychology led by the aim of entering a career in child care, but also by the will of deepen the awareness of herself, Daniela felt the need to continue to work on different forms of artistic creation to express her feelings just like when she was a little girl.
So, after some years spent working with children in clinics, but also as a researcher, in 2006 Daniela moved to Florence (Italy) to follow her passion for jewellery and decided to invest years in studying and learning directly from Florentine artisans the art of jewels making.

This experience led Daniela to design her own creations, mixing art and psychology, crafting unique jewels sold directly through Art Galleries and dealers.
The shapes of her designs arise from a long research into the beauty of imperfections that we can find in nature.

Thanks to a special handcrafting technique, using wax and sand, Daniela discovered her personal way to give expression to her findings, reaching irregular but harmonious lines, as perfectly traduced in her signature Drop that vividly reminds unique shapes like the ones of exotic shells, lotus flowers and curious wild mushrooms; the sea and its hidden grottos are other visions that Daniela tried to recall with her organic designs, guiding minds into an atavic journey. In these creations external and inner parts are thought, designed and melted together as to create a “unicuum” that symbolizes the union between human inward and outward psychological elements Daniela quickly found out how the creative process gives the possibility to translate ideas and mental visions into physical products in a pure and unconditioned way, and like a baby, exploring with a thirsty soul, she continued her journey into the craftsmanship world.

Thanks to her skills and to her innovative ideas, Daniela forged unconventional and unexpected jewels, keeping in mind what she learnt – when still a little girl – during the visits she paid with her father to the family cosmetic business, going from the creative offices, where products were imagined and designed, to the factory where they were realized.

Florentine leather goods are famous all around the world for their quality and while in town, developing her jewels, Daniela too was captured and fascinated by this ancient artisanal tradition and so decided to dedicate her creativity also to this dimension, starting to work at the bottega of “Maestro” Dimitri Villoresi, learning secrets and evolving her skills adapting them to her personal visions.

That’s how, after this fecund experience, Daniela decided to start a new personal project applying her unconventional jewellery to elegant and timeless handbag designs.
Unconditioned and untouched by standard rules, schemes or limits, independent and confident, Daniela approached the leather goods world with the same mindset and the same creative spirit that led her to craft successful jewellery, elaborating a consistent collection, perfectly harmonized with her unique pieces.

Leather and metal are assembled with delicacy to create exquisite monads. Bensason’ products embody the perfect mix of contemporary design, meticulous attention to every single detail, highest quality standards, but also represent the precious results of a creative process aimed to give expression to Daniela’s most inner ideas.
With her first collection, Daniela offers a complete range of handbags, from the daily chic to the dressy and cocktail ones, all enriched by precious accessories, and complemented by a special capsule selection of jewels organically designed to enhance an outstanding but still subtle look.

Handmade in Tuscany, these creations narrate a visionary world in which
geometry and soft elliptical shapes are blended together in a natural and balanced way.
Finest leather and sumptuous marvels are assembled and completed with impeccable finishing, translating concretely all key elements for which Made in Italy is celebrated in the World.
